The community can take advantage of a post-accident information checklist being provided by a Santa Clarita auto body shop, which can be printed out from their Facebook page and kept in vehicles.
Body Shop 661 Owner Cesar Ranuschio pointed out that he commonly gets asked what people need to do following a crash, and so he made a checklist they can easily reference if they need to.
“It’s good to have,” Ranuschio said. “When you get in an accident, you get so nervous that you don’t know what to get. It’s happened to some of my family members.”

Most of the necessary information can be simply obtained by taking a photo with a smartphone, and some things need to be written down, according to Ranuschio.
The Post-Accident Information Checklist by Body Shop 661 is as follows:
- Picture of the driver’s license of the other party;
- Picture of the insurance card of the other party, including the insurance company name and policy number;
- The other party’s phone number;
- Pictures of the damage to both vehicles and of the crash itself;
- Picture of the other vehicle’s license plate number; and
- The location and time of the crash, including street names and any establishments nearby for reference.
“So many people forget the phone number,” Ranuschio said. “(It’s) so important. You’ve got to get their phone number.”
When it’s time to reach out to a Santa Clarita auto body shop, Ranuschio stressed how important it is to get a written estimate so there aren’t any unexpected surprises later.
“You need something in writing, detailed, thing by thing of what’s getting done,” he said. “And me, I like to talk, so when you come in, I’m going to tell you exactly what I’m doing in detail (and) why I’m doing it … while you’re there, just so you see everything and you know how we’re doing it.”
